Titanium grade 5 (working material No. 3.7164 / 3.7165) / Ti 6AI 4V is the most frequently used Titanium alloy. This is due to its favourable relation between high specific strength and low density. Titanium grade 5 is saltwater resistant and highly resistant to corrosive media, also it possesses an excellent biocompatibility. This working material’s properties are more favourable than of pure Titanium. In contrast to pure Titanium Titanium grade 5 can be finally cured.

Titanium grade 5 is characterized by its low specific weight at favourable mechanical properties. Heat treatment of Titanium grade 5 requires a protective gas atmosphere or a vacuum atmosphere caused by Titanium’s high affinity to absorb oxygen and therefore to become brittle.
